Paphos police booked 34 individuals in a coordinated New Year operation to combat traffic offences, most of them related to driving under the influence of alcohol.
According to Paphos Police director Nikos Tsapis, 34 traffic bookings were made during the operation, 18 of which concerned driving under the influence of alcohol, while one driver was driving his vehicle under the influence of drugs.
In one case, a 27-year-old driver was found to have turned his vehicle into a police patrol car installed with flashing lights and police sirens. He was subsequently charged in writing and released to be summoned at a later date.
The rest were for smaller traffic offences.
