Over 300 fines for traffic violations were handed out over the past day, 97 of which were for speeding and 13 for driving under the influence of drugs.
Thursday morning’s announcement came soon after the police stated that there will be increased patrols and spot checks during the holidays – a period typically deemed dangerous on the roads.
The force reiterated that speeding and driving under the influence are amongst the most reckless acts which often contribute to fatal crashes.
The police were upbeat this week as they stated that road traffic fatalities are down this year, 37, compared to previous years.
